Operating across a number of sectors including Design, Print, Merchandising, Promotion & Retail, they boast an impressive client base consisting of high-profile sports clubs and household name businesses.
You will be a hands-on Financial Controller, and possess the calibre and ambition to eventually become their Finance Director. As a key member of the senior management team, you will take responsibility for all financial control elements of the business and providing meaningful management information for their 3 statutory entities.
Based from their impressive Leeds based premises in South Leeds, they are easily accessible from the motorway network.
Specific Requirement:
Reporting to the part-time CFO, this hands-on, all-encompassing role which will include:
- Lead, supervise and develop a small accounts team covering AP, AR, working capital management, accounts production and payroll.
- Provide operational and commercial business managers with insightful management information and analysis to support ongoing operations.
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the company’s financial systems, controls and procedures.
- Prepare monthly management accounts including P and L, Balance Sheet, detailed commentary.
- Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed and reviewed on a monthly basis, with any issues, risks or opportunities appropriately highlighted and reported.
- Operate a continuous improvement programme within the Finance team and seek to install best practice financial processes into operational areas of the business, seeking out efficiency improvements.
- Run monthly and annual payroll processes.
- Ensure all VAT, PAYE and other legal / taxations requirements of all 3 entities are correctly reported and submitted in line with legal and statutory requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of financial models, budgets and projections in line with required business planning and forecasting timetable.
- Develop the key performance indicators for the business.
- Prepare year end accounts and ‘audit’ pack.
- Liaise with external accountants / tax advisors in preparing and submitting statutory accounts and taxation information / schedules.
- Monitor and report on short and medium term working capital requirements, ensuring any potential issues are reported to management in a timely fashion.
- Control the company’s invoice discounting facility including close Debt and AR process management.
- Manage bank and external stakeholder relations as required ensuring bank covenants are accurately reported.
Skills & Experience required:
- Either Qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or Qualified By Experience.
- Experience operating as part of a leadership team, working across a number of functional areas outside of finance in an SME type environment.
- Experience of SAP B1 (nice to have, but by no means essential), with an aptitude for learning new systems and processes.
- Ability to prioritise and adapt to the requirements of a dynamic, entrepreneurially led / owner managed business.
- Strong working capital management experience and knowledge.
- Proven success at delivering against objectives and driving and measuring business success.
- Well-rounded finance skill set with complementary balance of control and commercial finance experience.
- Clear strategic thinker with the ability to communicate with a number of stakeholders, internal and external.
- Strong management and team /individual development experience
- An understanding of supply chain and stock related businesses in a B2B environment.
